DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY

International flights should be arranged to depart from the US on or before Sept 6th in order to arrive in London prior to the tour start date of Sept 7th.  

DAY 2: ARRIVAL IN LONDON

Time for settling into rooms will precede an afternoon of local sightseeing, including a visit to the St. Paul’s Cathedral, which came under frequent attack during WWII. We will also stroll the River Thames and take in iconic sites such as Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Overnight in London

DAY 3: IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM AND CHURCHILL WAR ROOMS

View a recreation of the Blitz and learn about the WWII’s impact on individuals via personal accounts in the superb Imperial War Museum. Visit the underground bunker used as the central office for Winston Churchill and his War Cabinet. Optional: See a London play for an additional fee. Overnight in London

DAY 4: CANTERBURY

Visit Canterbury, a city severely bombed in retaliation during WWII. Marvel at the strength of the people in rebuilding and in the beauty of Canterbury and its esteemed cathedral. Enjoy a traditional English afternoon tea in a quaint Kent village. Overnight in Canterbury

DAY 5: DOVER AND SECRET WAR TUNNELS

Tour medieval Dover Castle founded in the 11th century. It has been described as the "Key to England" due to its defensive significance throughout history. Also, enjoy a tour of the passageways under the castle used during Operation Dynamo and known as the Secret War Tunnels. Overnight near Gatwick

DAY 6: PARIS AND THE LOUVRE

Fly from London to Paris. After dropping luggage at the hotel, enjoy a tour of the stained-glass windows of Sainte Chapelle, a view of the fire-ravaged Notre Dame cathedral and a wander through the galleries and exhibits of the famous Louvre museum. Enjoy dusk at the Arc de Triomphe. Overnight in Paris

DAY 7: PARIS AND LES INVALIDES

Explore the Paris Pantheon, known as ‘the temple of the French nation’. After lunch, tour Les Invalides military museum, famous as the final resting place of Napoleon and home to a large WWII collection. Ascend the Eiffel Tower for an incredible aerial view of the city of Paris. Overnight in Paris

DAY 8: FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE AND NORMANDY

Travel across the French countryside from busy Paris to the north coast. Along the way, tour the rebuilt Pegasus Bridge. Visit Arromanches des Bains, known during WWII as Port Winston, and view remnants of the Mulberry Harbor. Overnight in Bayeux

DAY 9: NORMANDY WWII SITES

Ramble among the remains of a WWII German artillery battery at Longues-sur-Mer. Pay your respects to the American troops who died and are buried at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. Look down onto the now-peaceful Omaha Beach from the cemetery above. Overnight in Bayeux

DAY 10: UTAH BEACH AND CAEN

Stroll the famous landing sites at Utah Beach. Visit Angoville-au-Plain church, commemorating the war wounded. Tour the Caen Memorial Museum, which highlights the fragility of peace. Overnight near Rouen

DAY 11: CHANTILLY

Spend the day at Chateau de Chantilly, a storybook palace surrounded by an artificial lake and magnificent gardens. Learn the history behind this restored chateau. Take advantage of more of the grounds by renting a golf cart or climbing aboard the estate ‘train’. Overnight near airport

DAY 12: RETURN FLIGHT

The tour concludes with hotel check-out by 11 a.m. Arrangements to the airport will be made for those leaving prior to 9 a.m. Early departures or later departures should plan their own transportation to the airport.

Tour Pricing and Payment Schedule

The World War II Tour of England and France scheduled for Sept 7th – 19th, 2023 will be $3,085 per person, based on double occupancy. A $50 discount is given for payment in full at initial deposit; otherwise, the following payment schedule applies, per person:

Non-refundable deposit of $250 reserves spot
Payment of $315 due on Dec 1st, 2022
Payment of $315 due on Jan 1st, 2023
Payment of $315 due on Feb 1st, 2023
Payment of $315 due on Mar 1st, 2023
Payment of $315 due on Apr 1st, 2023
Payment of $315 due on May 1st, 2023
Payment of $315 due on June 1st, 2023
Payment of $315 due on July 1st, 2023
Payment of $315 due on Aug 1st, 2023

If signing up after any deposit deadline, payment for any previous deposits will be due upon sign-up. Prompt payment is appreciated. Late payments are assessed a $25 late fee.

Tour Inclusions and Exclusions

Included in the tour cost:

Pre-tour information, such as what to pack and how to exchange currency

Expertise of a tour guide throughout the tour

All sight-seeing and visits, as noted in the itinerary (unless otherwise specified)

All on-tour transportation, including trains, local flights, rental vehicles, and buses

One carry-on suitcase and one personal item due to car size restraints

All accommodations, based on double occupancy; typically, 3-star hotels, bed & breakfasts, and unique or historic buildings that add to the experience 

Not included in the tour cost:

Travel insurance

International airfare, including any taxes and fees

Expenses due to flight delays, strikes, inclement weather or other irregularities

Passport fees, visas and visa photos as required

Personal items such as souvenirs, laundry services, beverages, snacks, and healthcare

Optional excursions as indicated in the itinerary

Meals as indicated in the tour itinerary

Checked baggage fees and excess baggage charges

Seat requests and seat upgrades

Single traveler supplement

Refunds for tour services not utilized

Liability Waiver and Release Form

Please sign and return the Liability Waiver and Release Form for each tour participant. A parent or guardian must sign the form for any minor participants. A tour request is officially submitted when both the tour deposit and the Waiver and Release form are received by Aticus Travel, LLC for each tour participant.

Due to the strict cancellation policy, in order to protect your investment, and to provide you with peace of mind, we strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance.
