DAY 1: Travel Day

International flights should be arranged to depart from the US on or before Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 to arrive at the Munich airport by 1 pm on the tour start date of Thursday, May 14th, 2026. Late arrivals will need to find their own way to the arranged hotel and may miss out on some tour activities. Discounts will not be provided for late arrivals. Early arrivals will need to secure any additional hotel nights and/or activities they wish to participate in prior to tour commencement.
DAY 2: Arrival in Germany

Time for settling into rooms will precede an afternoon of local sightseeing and authentic Bavarian fare in downtown Munich. Stroll through the Marienplatz and view the Neues Rathaus (town hall), with its chiming glockenspiel that reenacts 16th century stories. Overnight in Munich.
DAY 3: Neuschwanstein Castle

Depart Munich and journey through the Bavarian countryside to the Wieskirche, a UNESCO-listed pilgrimage church set against alpine meadows. Continue on to the fairy-tale towers of Neuschwanstein Castle, whose romantic silhouette has inspired legends and stories around the world. Overnight in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
DAY 4: Bavaria

Ascend into the Bavarian alps via cable car to strolling through the Partnach Gorge, sculpted by the Partnach River eroding a deep crevasse into pure rock and creating one of the most beautiful gorges in the alpine region. After enjoying a traditional German kaiserschmarrn, continue across the border into Austria, arriving in Innsbruck, nestled in a valley surrounded by soaring peaks. Overnight in Innsbruck.
DAY 5: Innsbruck

Stroll the colorful streets of Innsbruck, an Austrian town surrounded by enormous, snow-capped mountains. Wander through the market stalls and shops, take the funicular high into the mountains, climb the city tower and visit the Hofkirche, with its imposing royal statues. Overnight in Innsbruck.
DAY 6: Exploring the Alps

Traverse lush green valleys and mountain pastures to arrive at the Krimml Waterfalls. Remarkable as the highest waterfall in Europe, Krimml Falls provides great vantage points and gently sloping walking paths up most of its height. Overnight in Zell am See.
DAY 7: Zell am See

Bike, hike, paddle or relax lakeside in scenic Zell am See. The options for activities to fill this day of leisure are varied and plentiful. Zip down the mountain on an alpine slide, bike on the surrounding mountain paths, paddleboard on the lake or relax beside the lake and take in the serene view. This day is yours to fill as you choose. Overnight in Zell am See.
DAY 8: Berchtesgaden

Visit the Parish Church of St. Sebastian before exploring the Documentation Center, which examines the history of National Socialism in the Berchtesgaden area. Continue to the Salzbergwerk, the oldest active salt mine in Germany, where a train ride, miners’ slide, and underground boat tour reveal how salt has been extracted here for centuries. Overnight near Salzburg.
DAY 9: Salzburg

Relish the beauty of old town Salzburg with its impressive mountaintop castle, imposing cathedral and ties to Mozart. Ride the funicular through the castle walls to Hohensalzburg to enjoy marvelous views of the city and get an immersive look at the castle’s history. Overnight near Salzburg.
DAY 10: Hellbrunn and Herrenchiemsee Palaces

Enjoy the laughter-inducing trick fountains and waterworks found throughout the grounds of Hellbrunn Palace. After lunch, travel by ferry to an island set within Lake Chiemsee to tour the dazzling Herrenchiemsee Palace. Overnight in Munich.
DAY 11: Munich

Marvel at the opulent Munich Residenz, the largest city palace in Germany, and enjoy its architecture, room decorations, and displays from the former royal collections. After lunch, stroll the English gardens or hop on a bike or horse-drawn carriage ride (additional fee) through the park. Overnight in Munich.
DAY 12: Return Home

The tour concludes with hotel check-out by 11 a.m. Arrangements to the airport will be made for those leaving prior to 9 a.m. Early departures or later departures should plan their own transportation to the airport.
Tour Pricing And Payment Schedule
The Bavaria and Lakes of Austria tour scheduled for May 2026 will be $3,250 per person, based on double occupancy. A $100 discount is given for payment in full at initial deposit; otherwise, the following payment schedule applies per person:

Non-refundable deposit of $600 reserves spot - deposits made prior to Dec 31st, 2025 will receive a $100 discount, making the deposit $500.

If signing up after any deposit deadline, payment for any previous deposits will be due upon sign-up. Prompt payment is appreciated. Late payments are assessed a $25 late fee.
Only 1 discount on tour pricing is permissible. A discount of $100 is available to all those who place their deposit prior to December 31st, 2025. After December 31st, 2025, a $100 discount is available to all those who pay their full tour price at the time of their initial deposit.

Expertise of a tour guide throughout the tour
All sight-seeing and visits, as noted in the itinerary (excludes Zell am See activities)
All on-tour transportation, including trains, ferries, rental vehicles, and buses
One carry-on suitcase and one personal item due to space restraints in rental vehicles
All accommodations, based on double occupancy; typically, 3 star hotels
Not included in the tour cost:
International airfare and any related expenses
Travel insurance
Expenses due to flight delays, strikes, inclement weather or other irregularities
Passport fees, visas (including ETIAS) and visa photos as required
Personal items such as souvenirs, laundry services, beverages, snacks, and healthcare

​Liability Waiver and Release Form
Please sign and return the Liability Waiver and Release Form for each tour participant. A parent or guardian must sign the form for any minor participants. A tour request is officially submitted when both the tour deposit and the Waiver and Release form are received by Aticus Travel, LLC for each tour participant.

Due to the strict cancellation policy, in order to protect your investment, and to provide you with peace of mind, we strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance.
